The Community Relations Committee

"The Community Relations Committee is responsible for providing the Chapter's membership and business partners with opportunities to get involved in New York community-based initiatives and public service."

Vision:
Encourage Chapter members and corporate partners to "face the
challenge" of strengthening Harlem, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten
Island and Bronx communities via public service involvement.
Improve the Metro New York NBMBAA's image as a community-partner
committed to providing career development assistance.

The Corporate Relations Committee

The Corporate Relations Committee's goal is to identify corporate partners and work toward meeting their needs in the area of recruitment, community involvement, mentoring and corporate imaging. The committee also leads the efforts to provide funding for the New York Chapter scholarships, local programs, the annual national conference, and local underwriting opportunities.

Vision:
Create bonding relationships with each corporate partner to provide the Metro NY Chapter with access to the resources required to support the chapter's programs/events and committees.

Cultural Affairs

The Cultural Affairs Committee provides opportunities for members to socialize and network within the Organization and Metro New York community. The committee is charged with developing and maintaining relationships with other local organizations and enhancing membership's awareness of local cultural activities.

Vision:
Establish the Metro New York Chapter NBMBAA as the premiere social outlet for all MBA's (and other business executives) of color in the New York area. In other words ("Work hard, play hard"!) A comon theme for all planned functions is that they provide opportunity for networking and otherwise "showcase" the culture and membership of NY NBMBAA. (All social/networking functions generate Chapter revenue for operations and/or scholorships.)

The Economic Development Committee

The Economic Development Committee develops programs to assist the Metro New York African American community with local business education and training, and provides technical assistance to businesses to build capacity.

 

The committee seeks to develop innovative ways to link local entrepreneurs with Chapter corporate partners. The committee supports established local organizations in promoting economic reinvestment initiatives.

Vision:
Establish the Metro New York Chapter as a ""go-to"" organization to assist local African American businesses. Develop a stronger presence in the Harlem, Brooklyn and Bronx communities, in particular, as a contributor and strategic partner in creating viable education and training assistance and programs to retain and increase businesses. Join and support local businesses and organizations in developing and executing economic (re)investment strategies.

The Employment Commitee

The Employment Committee connects the Chapter's constituents with job opportunities and provides career guidance and development, mentoring and networking channels through informative programs and services.

Vision:
Brand the Metro New York Chapter as the "premier" business organization/channel for identifying qualified African American candidates for executive-level job opportunities, and to become the leader in providing career connections (mentoring) and networks to business professionals.

Finance

The Finance Committee maintains accurate records of chapter finances.

Vision

Develop strategic finacial management plan for the Chapter including investment strategy; growth targets and scenario plans.

Fulfillment Service

Fulfillment Services seeks to economically and effectively facilitate communication with the chapter's membership via updates through the US Postal Services.

Vision:

Provide the membership with a high level of service in delivering Chapter information via US mail.

The Leaders of Tomorrow /CASH

Leaders of Tomorrow /CASH program's goal is to provide African-American high school students with awareness of the economic and social advantages of graduating from high school and continuing their education.

Vision:
Create a schedule of activities that generates excitement throughout the program that allows.

The Marketing Committee

This committee is mandated to "Market" the Metro NY Chapter to prospective members, members and corporate partners, establish and maintain "brand recognition" and ensure consistent positive image to the public. Vision:
To continually promote "the brand", by developing a consistent "look and feel" throughout all distribution channels ("Save the Date" postcards, flyers, mailers, emails and website).

The Membership Commitee

The Membership Committee's goal is to develop strategies to increase and maintain chapter membership

Vision:
Engage our members to participate in Chapter activities and to communicate our vision to become the premiere organization for economic, social and political empowerment in New York.

The Programs Committee

The Programs committee is the central coordinator of Chapter event/program logistics.

Vision:
Assist all Chapter Committees with event implementation to improve the Chapter's level of service and quality in delivering programs. Centralize Chapter event/program logistics. Ensure that a positive/ professional image is presented at all events.

The Public Relations Committee

The Public Relations Committee publishes quarterly newsletters (electronic and paper). Provides members with information regarding all Metro NY Chapter events and activities. Focuses on improving/enhanching the Metro NY CHapter's visibility. Provides timely and effective communications to members.

Vision

Promote the programs and events of the Metro NY. Enhance the visibility of the Metro NY Chapter though press releases of every major event/program to local radio stations, television, and newspapers. Provide media coverage at every major event.

The Scholarship/Awards Committee

The Scholarship Committee's goal is to host and plan the execution of "premier" high visibility events to support Chapter fund development.

Vision:
Execute high visibility "premier" fund raising events for the Chapter. events honor community and civic leaders in New York.

Student Relations Committee

The Student Relations Committee's mission is to educate high school, undergraduate and graduate students about scholarship opportunities offered at both the national and local chapter levels. In addition, the committee pairs students with members and corporate sponsors who offer career guidance.

Vision:
Establish the Metro New York chapter as the premier African-American organization that provides New York area college student with access to scholarships, scholarship information and access to corporate internships.

Website Committee

The Web Site Committee updates and maintains this web site. It services members, students and the community at large by posting chapter activities, and services corporate partners by providing additional avenues of exposure to the membership.

Vision

Maintain the nyblackmba.org site by in a timely manner posting chapter activities, and services. Promote revenue generation via web-based advertising and employment job posting campaigns.
